Title of the project: Young News Reporters Project 

Duration: 10 months starting from January, 2012

Funders: International Research and Exchange Board (IREX) and USAID

Target regions: Oguz and Gabala (North-Western regions of Azerbaijan)

The primary goal of the project is to establish a core group of young news reporters in the Sheki and Zagatala region of Azerbaijan who will report independent news from around the region and post news reports on a special established website.

Specific objectives of the project:

• To build capacity of young people on online news reporting;
• To build capacity of partner newspaper media;
• To establish a website for posting news reports including related photos and short videos;
• To provide young people with the necessary equipment for the news reporting; and
• To organize Journalist of Month awards to increase the interest of young people to participate in online news reporting.
