The primary goal of the “Social Entrepreneurial Program” project is to bring an innovative approach to finding solutions to community needs and problemsthrough social entrepreneurship. The project will engage young adults as actors in their community to bring about change and development.
The project is funded with money granted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Resource capabilities of “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center and the United States Peace Corps along with the financial assistance of USAID are joined together resulting in a project that will help aspiring social entrepreneurs develop skills enabling them to become facilitators of the social entrepreneurship movement.
The project will start 1 October 2011 and will last approximately eight months.
The project has three main components, which are:
- Increase the understanding of young adults about their role as change agents through social entrepreneurship;
- Capacity building activities of a select number of young adults that will enable them to become effective leaders through social entrepreneurship; and
- Provision of start-up funding and mentoring for a select number of social entrepreneurship business ideas developed by young adults.
Uluchay will be a facilitating partner for the “Social Entrepreneurial Program” project. A United States Peace Corps volunteer and a Sheki community counterpart will work together with Uluchay to provide project participants with training and mentoring.
Information about becoming a project participant and further information regarding related activities will be posted on Uluchay’s website and disseminated around various locations in Sheki.
