On 28th October, 2011 within the Social Entrepreneurial Program “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation organized a round-table on “Identifying of main social problems for technical support”. Around 25 stakeholders were participated in the round-table, including government, bank sector, NGO, Media and private sector representatives.

Round-table was started by a Chairman of Uluchay – Mayis Safarov which talked about the social entrepreneurship and its role on solving of social problems. After, presentation of the project was done by Executive director of Uluchay – Ilyas Safarli, which provided all necessary information to meeting participants and asked about their opinions on main social problems which will be used within the technical support component of the project.

Main social problems identified within this round-table are:

• -          Services for disabled persons (youth and elder people);
• -          Environment;
• -          Child care services;
• -          Sport and recreation;
• -          Tourism development.

Let us note that the primary goal of “Youth and Social Entrepreneurship” project is to bring an innovative approach to finding solutions to community needs and problems through social entrepreneurship engaging young people as actors in community change and development.

The project is funded with money granted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Human resource capabilities of the Peace Corps and the financial resources of USAID are joined together resulting in a project that will help aspiring social entrepreneurs.

The implementation of the project will be started from 1^st October, 2011 and will length eight months.

Project has 3 main components, which are:

-    Increase the understanding of young people about their roles as change agents through social entrepreneurship;

-    Capacity building activities of selected young people to become an effective business leaders; and

-    Provide start-up funding and mentoring to social business ideas of young people.

The “Youth and Social Entrepreneurship” project will be coordinated by Peace Corps Volunteer in Sheki Eugene Gabrys, Namiq Rzayev – will work together with the PCV within this project and Uluchay will be a facilitating partner, which will provide trainings and mentoring to young people.
