Civic participation in decision making process

“Uluchay” SEIC organized “Civic participation in decision making process” seminar for women and youth in selected 15 communities within the “Increasing women and youth participation in elections” project funded by National Democratic Institute (NDI). The purposes of seminars were to train participants to think according to definite parameters, models and frameworks in their decision making processes; to increase the capability of making effective and responsible decisions while adapting to the needs of the moment; to locate the participants in the bigger picture in their decision making processes with greater versatility and mind flexibility.

Trainers informed participants on concept of Civil Society and civic participation, types of civic participation, the advantage of civic participation, problem solving styles and six ways to approach a decision through mini lectures, general discussion, different games and small group work according to the agenda.               

At the seminar's completion, participants have learnt an understanding of problem-solving and decision-making techniques and methods.

The main goal of the project is to increase women and youth participation in parliamentary elections, through training programs and education campaigns. The project addresses gender issues, good governance and institutional and capacity building among Azerbaijani communities, specifically of Sheki region in North-Western part of Azerbaijan.
