Main priorities for technical support were identified

On 28th October, 2011 within the Social Entrepreneurial Program “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation organized a round-table on “Identifying of main social problems for technical support”. Around 25 stakeholders were participated in the round-table, including government, bank sector, NGO, Media and private sector representatives.

Uluchay is continues to develop institutional capacity and system of local communities

Through the U.S. Embassy-supported “Responsible communities – democratic society” project, “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center is continues development of institutional capacity and system of local communities.

Within this component of the project Uluchay provide five training sessions to each community, which are followings: what is the community and how it works, sharing experience of foreign communities, strategic planning of community, advocacy and project writing and increasing the influence of community board on solving of local social and economic problems.

South Caucasian youth: peace builders or future soldiers

The session was provided by Orkhan Aliyev - MA in Non-Proliferation & International Security from King’s College London. The main purpose of the training was to provide an interactive discussion among young people on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict including discussion of latest events and influence that the conflict had and has on young people both in Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Five new communities established in Sheki region

Through the U.S. Embassy-supported “Responsible communities – democratic society” project, “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center started establishment of communities in five selected villages of Sheki region. Representatives of different target groups, including women, youth, elder people, government and private sector were involved to the community boards. Totally ten people (two from each target group) were selected to the community boards. Most of established communities are leading by women and young people.

Presentation of CAP

On 22 April, 2011 presentation of Youth Civic Awareness Program was held at conference hall of Uluchay Social-Economic Innovation Center. The aim of this presentation is to inform young people of Sheki about planned project activities. Totally 30 young people participated in presentation.

Executive director of Uluchay – Ilyas Safarli present each of project components to young people. He also mentioned: “This project is a great opportunity for young people of Sheki to realize their ideas through small-scale projects, as well as to increase their world vision and other capacities and skills through other two components.”
